You could think of the Tactacam 5.0 as the ‘GoPro for hunting’. This is because the company has cornered the market and designed a product specifically for hunters.

The Tactical 5.0 boasts a number of similarities to the high-end GoPro range, when it comes to things like their unique range of custom hunting camera mounts as well as their high end camera resolutions, stabilisation, and frame rates (pushing 240FPS at 720p! – CRAZY!).

The thing that really sets this little guy apart from other action cameras though is the way you mount it to your weapon – any weapon.

Key Features and Benefits of the Tactacam 5.0

  • Live Streaming Capability – This is a brilliant feature if you are out hunting somewhere with cell reception. The only catch is that it is currently only available to those who connect to the Tactical 5.0 via the Apple iOS AppIt does not appear to be available to those connecting to the device via the Android app (at this stage).
  • 4K Resolution – If you set the Tactical 5.0 to this setting, the trick here is to downsample to 1080p and use the extra pixels to zoom in where needed without loosing resolution!
  • Remote Sync – Allowing you to download your footage without the need for a cable! Thank the lord!
  • Control Multiple Tactacam 5.0’s (with the remote) – This feature is pretty cool. If you have more than one Tactacam 5.0 you can control them at the same time
  • 8x Magnification – Get in close to the action.
  • Image Stabilization – This is a great feature, especially when you pair it with the custom built Tactacam stabilisation holder.
  • Slow motion Feature – As mentioned above, if you are willing to drop your resolution down to 720p, you can record at 240FPS which allows you to replay the footage at a SUPER Slow Motion speed. If you choose 1080p, you can record at 120FPS which will still give you a silky smooth slow motion when you slow the footage down.
  • WI-FI & App Compatible – Tactacam have apps available on both iOS and Android to allow you to control recording, manage and share videos from your smartphone.
  • Weatherproof – This little guy is build to withstand the roughest treatment. Don’t stress about it getting wet (or damaged).
  • Can be mounted on any weapon – The Tactacam mounting system is made to fit any weapon. From Bows, crossbows, shotguns to rifles, you’re all good to go. They have a custom barrel / scope mount, a pica tinny rail mount, along with a specially designed cage for bows that limits camera shake and stabilises your footage.
  • 2.5 Hour Record time – Don’t miss a thing! With 2.5 hours of recording, you can make sure you are recording when it matters.

Tactacam 5.0 – Variations and Packages

Tactacam have done a great job here customizing their offering and releasing a few different packages to cater to all types of hunters and their filming needs.

The base pack that includes just the camera is probably where I would start as it seems as though the packages are not readily available. It would be simpler just to buy the components below and put together a pack to meet your needs.

Here is the Camera:

Some people want to live stream their hunts exactly as they see things through the scope, while others want to take in as much as they can with a wide-angle lens.

If you’re a bow or crossbow hunter, you might want to grab the bow stabilizer mount.

Heres some more info about each:

Long Range Hunter – Package With FTS (Film Through Scope)

The FTS (Film Through Scope) package is a real winner if you want to be able to record both your reticle and exactly what you can see through your scope.

Imagine live-streaming your hunt out to your subscribers and being able to show exactly what you see as you shoot for the kill.

No pressure huh!

The FTS package fits snugly to the front of your existing scope. Using some form of reflective prism magic, you can still see through your scope as you normally would, while the Tactical 5.0 sits neatly, recording precisely what you see.

The Long Range Hunter Package includes:

  • Tactacam 5.0 hunting action camera
  • Rechargeable Batttery
  • USB cable with charging wall adapter
  • User Manual
  • FTS (Film Through Scope) mount
  • 64GB SD Card Included

The Tactacam 5.0 Hunting Action Camera | Bow Package

The bow package from Tactacam gives you everything you need to get your bow set up for recording and live streaming with the Tactacam 5.0.

The stabilizer mount is designed specifically for Bows and Crossbows. This, added to the internal image stabilization included in the camera means that every shot you take will be silky smooth without the ‘shock’ of taking your shot.

The Bow Hunter Package includes:

  • Tactacam 5.0 hunting action camera
  • Rechargeable Batttery
  • USB cable with charging wall adapter
  • Lens cloth
  • Camera bag
  • User Manual
  • Tactacam decal
  • Matte Black Stabilizer bow mount
  • SD Card – NOT INCLUDED

Tactacam 5.0 FAQ’s

How long does it take to charge the Tactacam 5.0 battery?

It shouldn’t take longer than 3.5 hours from a fully depleted battery.

Normally I would expect it to take about 1.5 – 3 hours in total.

NOTE: Please make sure you only use the charging adaptor that is provided with the Tactacam product. If you choose not to you may cause overcharging that may damage the product. This is due to the output required from the charger of 5v – 1A.
